KAT-TUN
I think it's about time to discuss the first Johnny's Entertainment group I took a liking to: KAT-TUN. (Arashi was the first JE group I encountered, but I didn't exactly turn into an Arashi fan.)
I have to be honest, I never thought I would like JMusic as much as I do now. Heck, I never thought I would like JMusic at all! I just wasn't interested back then. Pokemon and Sailor Moon were the closest I got to anything Japanese. Besides some of my Japanese friends, of course. But that was it.
Until six (very talented) guys appeared.
Kamenashi Kazuya. Akanishi Jin. Taguchi Junnosuke. Tanaka Koki. Ueda Tatsuya. Nakamaru Yuichi.
If I were to name the one guy who caught my attention and lured me into the JE fandom, I would answer Akanishi Jin. He was acting in Gokusen. Gorgeous. That's two reasons as to why I liked him from the beginning: He had acting skills and a "pretty boy" aura. (Here's a confession: As for Kame, I somewhat ignored him. But! I started liking him not too long after I started liking Jin.) A few days later, I saw him in the Real Face PV. There goes another two reasons: Amazing voice and awesome moves. I was certain, Jin was my favorite. (Back then, at least. I'm not sure about now. It's too hard to choose a favorite KAT-TUN member. They're all fantastic!) From then, I watched more and more videos of them on YouTube. What would I do without YouTube? Slowly, I became a KAT-TUN fan. I watched five videos. Then ten. Twenty. Before you know it, my eyes are straining from staring at the computer screen so much.
One of those first videos included this one:
KAT-TUN performed Feel Your Breeze (originally a V6 song) on a show I still have not identified. This became my favorite video of them, in which I watched practically every week, if not every day.I was addicted, okay?! Kame positioned as the leader. Realizing what Jin can do with his voice. Introduced to Junno's acrobatic skills. Koki's rapping. Ueda's smile. And Nakamaru's beatboxing. (Not really Nakamaru's beatboxing, but I knew he could beatbox beforehand anyways.) I liked (and still do) to think of them as ... I'm not sure what the word is. Can't say perfect cause there's no such thing as perfect. But how about "almost-perfect" group? Every member was unique. That's what made KAT-TUN so almost-perfect: every member's individuality.
As for the present day and time, I cannot say I am as obsessed over KAT-TUN as before. I still love them, just not addicted to watching video after video. But KAT-TUN will always be the first JE group I ever adored.
